Spikes Tag Sea Unicorns with 4-2 Loss
The State College Spikes topped the Norwich Sea Unicorns, 4-2, in New York-Penn League action at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. The standout performance belonged to State College pitcher and Conroe, Texas, native Chance Sample. The winner in relief was Chris Pierce. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. He now owns a record of 1-0. The Spikes raised their record to 8-34.

In the bottom of the fourth inning of a 0-0 tie, State College center fielder Jorge Polanco reached on an error by the 2B, driving in 1 run. It broke the deadlock and put State College on top, 1-0.

"Nice to get this one," said Polanco. "We've been scuffling."
