Lake Monsters Use Late Surge to Win
The Vermont Lake Monsters defeated the Tri-City ValleyCats, 6-4, at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium. Leading the charge for Vermont was catcher T.J. Kibler. He was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Vermont reliever Cheng-hao Fou picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Steve Luna was saddled with the loss. Willie Jaimes recorded his 1st save for Vermont.

Had Kibler not come through in the top of the ninth, who knows how the game would've ended? But with two down, Kibler hit a 2-run single. The Lake Monsters took the lead, 6-4, and never looked back.

"Nice win for us," said Kibler. "Now we'll go after the next one."

The victory gives Vermont a record of 20-18.
