The Staten Island Yankees topped the State College Spikes, 9-4, in New York-Penn League action at Richmond County Bank Ballpark. The game was highlighted by the performance of Staten Island pitcher Jose Sanchez. Staten Island reliever Jose Sanchez got the win, raising his record to 2-0. David Murillo was tagged with the loss. The Yankees win now puts them at 27-6.

Jon Foster had a big 3-run home run for the Yankees in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Staten Island trailing 4-3 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a fastball from 21-year old right-handed pitcher David Murillo and swatted a home run to left-center. It was his 2nd home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Yankees ahead, 6-4.

"Hitting is contagious. And when you have a lineup that's going to throw out competitive at-bats one through nine, it makes you want to join in," said Sanchez.
