Mahoning Valley turned a fine outing from starter Dave Ales into a victory over the Reading Braves at Eastwood Field. The final score was 3-2 in 11 innings. Phil Newton, now 1-2, was credited with the win in 3 innings of relief. He allowed 1 run on no hits, while striking out 2 and walking 1. Mahoning Valley occupies 5th place in the New York-Penn League South Division at 16-15.

The Scrappers got a clutch hit from left fielder Jose Ortega. In the bottom of the 11th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Scrappers.
