Staten Island Gets 5-2 Win
|
The Staten Island Yankees beat the Aberdeen Ironbirds by a score of 5-2. Staten Island third baseman Eric Gomez deserved the lion's share of the credit. Gomez was 1-4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Yankees. Dylan Hatcher was the winner. He's now 4-0. The loser was 22-year old right-handed pitcher Jaheim Hooper. Staten Island now owns a record of 20-9.
Edward Juarez, who is tied for 10th in the NYP in runs scored with 17, helped out the Staten Island cause in the top of the sixth inning with a run-scoring walk. For the game, the center fielder drew 1 walk.
