The Lowell Spinners defeated the Mahoning Valley Scrappers by the score of 11-10, with the biggest share of the credit going to catcher Zach Puorro. Puorro was 4 for 5 with a double, 3 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Spinners on the day. The winner in relief was Quincy Wills. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 3 hits in 2.2 innings. He now owns a record of 1-1. The Spinners are now 12-14, while the Scrappers fall to 15-11.

Lowell used the timely hitting of Jim Hoffman to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Spinners on top, 9-7. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
