Spikes Rally Late to Nip Lake Monsters
|
Medlar Field at Lubrano Park was host to some intense drama.
Tony Batres was instrumental in his team's 4-3, extra-inning triumph over the Vermont Lake Monsters. The first baseman was 2 for 5 with a home run. He scored 2 runs for the State College Spikes. The 7th-place Spikes own a record of 10-19.
The Spikes got a clutch hit from right fielder Jose Merino. In the bottom of the tenth, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Spikes.
"The house was rockin'," said Merino.
