Spikes Dealt 5-1 Home Loss
|
The West Virginia Black Bears racked up a win at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park, bumping off the State College Spikes, 5-1. Jeremy Roos, who started for West Virginia, pitched effectively for his team. Roos got the win, improving to 2-0. He gave up 8 hits and walked 2 over 7.1 innings. He allowed no runs. Tristan Wright picked up the save for West Virginia, his 2nd of the year.
West Virginia used a well-timed hit by Akanori Noguchi to capture the win. The shortstop socked a 2-run double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Black Bears ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.
"It's a mindset," said Roos. "Just trying to do your job, trying to be consistent."
With the win, the Black Bears have a record of 12-12.
