Crosscutters Get Better of ValleyCats, 2-1
|
The Tri-City ValleyCats could not turn a fine performance from catcher Dylan Young into a win. Instead, the Williamsport Crosscutters prevailed, 2-1. Young was 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. The win belonged to Jim Unknown in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Danny Handley took the loss for Tri-City. Juan Moreno closed out the game, earning his 1st save.
Williamsport used a clutch at-bat from Danny Zamarripa to capture the win. The third baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Crosscutters ahead, 2-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"That's baseball," said Tri-City manager . "Sometimes the other team plays better than yours."
At 8-17, Williamsport is in 7th place in the New York-Penn League South Division.
