Lake Monsters Pin 6-4 Loss on Reading
|
The Reading Braves got a superb performance from pitcher Jon Evans, but the Vermont Lake Monsters still won the game, 6-4. Evans threw 5.0 innings allowing 2 runs. Ali Campbell recorded the save, his 1st. Vermont's record now stands at 12-6, placing them first in the New York-Penn League North Division.
Vermont used a timely hit from 22-year old shortstop Jimmy Cole to get the win. The designated hitter delivered a 2-run triple in the top of the sixth inning to put the Lake Monsters on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was huge.
"That's what makes it fun -- everybody's jacked up because of the way we've been winning," said Vermont manager .
