The West Virginia Black Bears had no problem beating the Williamsport Crosscutters, 11-2, at Monongalia County Ballpark. Zach Lancour, who is tied for 7th in the NYP with a 1.088 OPS, led the onslaught. He was 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 and driving in 4 for West Virginia. Ruben Ortiz, the winning pitcher, improved to 1-0. He pitched 7 innings, giving up 5 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 6 and walking 1. The win puts West Virginia at 8-6.

Lancour made an early impact for West Virginia when he stroked his 2nd home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which came in the bottom of the second, put the Black Bears on top, 4-0.

In postgame comments to the West Virginia News, Lancour said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
