The State College Spikes beat the Williamsport Crosscutters, 11-2, at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. Chris Berquist, in particular, was impressive. He was 3-4 with 2 home runs and a walk, while scoring 4 times and driving in 4. Ricky DiNardo, the winner, improved to 1-2. He held the Crosscutters to no runs on 4 hits over 6.1 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 1. "Lousy" describes the Williamsport performance in the early going.

With State College leading 4-0 in the bottom of the sixth, Berquist batted against Williamsport pitcher Josiah Theus. Berquist hit a fastball to right for a 3-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season put the Spikes on top, 7-0.

"It was full throttle on our side," said Berquist.
