Spinners Rally Late to Clip Tri-City
|
The Lowell Spinners had to overcome a fine effort from Tri-City pitcher Bobby Hutchins to win, 2-1, at Edward A. LeLacheur Park. Hutchins went 6 innings and allowed 1 run. Jayden Banks, now 1-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.2 innings. Jon Hines closed out the game, earning his 1st save.
Had Zach Puorro not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Puorro hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Spinners.
"Good teams find a way to win close games," Puorro said.
With the win, Lowell goes to 7-2.
