Staten Island Offense Jammed Up by Sea Unicorns
|
The Norwich Sea Unicorns beat the Staten Island Yankees, 5-1, at Senator Thomas J. Dodd Memorial Stadium. Starting pitcher Josh Spencer was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. Norwich pitcher Ricky Muro got the win, upping his record to 1-0. Mike Arnesen got the loss. With the loss, Staten Island drops to 2-1.
Norwich shortstop Mike Simons helped the Sea Unicorns go up, 2-1, in the bottom of the seventh inning. With the game tied, Simons hit a run-scoring single off Staten Island pitcher Jim Corrigan.
Simons attributed the win to his team's "grittiness."
