Pérez, Vázquez Suspended for Fracas Saturday, August 25th , 1906 If there wasn't a history between Mateo Pérez of Las Piedras and Fernando Vázquez of Arroyo, then there is one now. The incident between the two sparked a bench-clearing scrum with those two being the center of attention. Now they will miss 2 and 5 games respectively as a result of their actions. The league office announced their suspensions today. "We're both really competitive," Pérez said later, "and sometimes things go a little too far because of it." So far this year, Pérez is hitting .218 with 8 home runs. This year, Vázquez has made 14 starts, thrown 113.2 innings, fanned 103 batters and walked 29. His won-lost record is 10-3 with a 2.30 ERA. |
