Smashing Success: León Wallops 3 HR Monday, August 20th , 1906 San German Hermosos first baseman Jorge León put on a dazzling display of power at Parquecito de San Germán against the Guayanilla Tormentas. In the 7-1 Hermosos victory, León penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts. "He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," Guayanilla manager Julián Silva said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well." Along with his three home runs, the 23-year-old had 3 hits in 4 at-bats, 5 RBIs and 3 runs scored. "Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," León said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today."
