Adán Fires Shutout in Canoneros Victory Tuesday, August 1st , 1905 In an outstanding outing, Catano Canoneros starter Nemesio Adán tamed the Arecibo Cachorros with a 6-hit shutout at Estadio Lupercal. The Catano hurler went the distance, finishing with 8 strikeouts and 2 walks in the 1-0 win. "He had a lot of first-pitch strikes and kept us off balance with a lot of off-speed stuff," according to Arecibo manager Benedicto Barahona. "We just didn't get too many balls squared up today." Adán has made 20 starts, tossed 174.2 innings, struck out 150 batters and walked 70. His record is 13-5 with a 2.11 ERA and he has limited other teams to a .175 batting average.
