Coronado Stops Cabo Rojo
Monday, May 16th , 1904
Before the game, Bonifacio Coronado said he liked his chances. His instincts proved to be right. In a superb outing at Parquecito de Cabo Rojo, the Hidalgos pitcher blanked the Cabo Rojo Maravillosos, 1-0.
"I just had a feeling it was going to be my day," Coronado said in the clubhouse afterward. "My control was awesome. I could throw my sinker even when I was behind in the count."
The Ponce starter held Cabo Rojo scoreless, giving up 1 hit while registering 7 strikeouts and issuing 8 walks.
"We didn't have very many good at-bats," Maravillosos manager Alejo Zarco said in a postgame interview. "When that happens, you usually lose."
