Núñez Shines in 1-0 Gem Monday, September 4th , 1905 In a remarkable performance, Griswold Vampires starter Juan Núñez beat the Newport Pilot Whales, 1-0, in an impressive 4-hit shutout. "My arm felt good, mechanics were good and my stuff was working," he said later. "It doesn't get any better than this." The Vampires hurler finished with 1 strikeout and 1 walk. He showed pinpoint control and a sharp fastball. "It was a rough one for my guys," Newport manager Pablo Morales said, following the game. "We weren't at our best and their guy was."
