Contreras Is September's Top Starter Thursday, October 1st , 1903 The Northern New England Association scribes have picked September's Pitcher of the Month and have given the trophy to Salustiano Contreras of Bennington. He was devastating on the mound last month with a standout 5-1 mark. The Melodeons star hurler made 6 starts with a 1.70 ERA and surrendered 35 hits in 53 innings. He struck out 34 and walked 14. Up to now Contreras has compiled an ERA of 2.59 with a 22-12 mark over 34 starts. He has 175 strikeouts in 309.1 innings and has held opponents to a .248 batting average. |
