Martínez Whips Tucson, 2-0 Friday, August 3rd , 1906 Everything clicked on the hill for Luis Martínez, as he hurled the Tempe Olympians to a shutout win, 2-0, over the Tucson Highwaymen, limiting them to 7 hits while recording 2 strikeouts and yielding no walks. He overpowered some batters with fastballs and buckled knees with sharp breaking pitches. "We had our shot at him a couple of different times," Highwaymen manager Amado Garza said. "We just weren't able to get to him." To date, Martínez has a 10-3 mark in 12 starts with a 1.41 ERA. He has given up 109 hits in 121 innings, struck out 18 and issued 14 walks.
