Ramírez Stops Winnipeg
Saturday, October 19th , 1907
Álvar Ramírez was in a mood to talk following the Steinbach Mennonites contest against the Winnipeg Strikers, expounding to BNN reporters on his pitching philosophy. He had good reason to be excitable, having tossed a complete game shutout of the Strikers, 7-0.
"There are three important elements in pitching success: location, location, and location," Ramírez said. "I was hitting my spots time and time again."
The right-hander blanked Winnipeg on a 7-hitter, allowing no walks and racking up 8 strikeouts.
In 33 starts this season, Ramírez has picked up 17 wins while suffering 15 losses. He has pitched 286 innings, allowed 259 hits, struck out 227 and posted a 3.15 ERA.
