Gallegos Hits in 25 Straight Games Sunday, October 18th , 1903 Gelmiro Gallegos, second baseman for the Vega Alta Martilleros, ran his consecutive-game hitting streak to 25 games with 2 hits in his club's 7-2 victory over the Penuelas Guiristas at Estadio de Peñuelas. "I don't really know why it's even happening," he said with a grin after the game. "So asking me how long I can keep it up is kind of irrelevant. It'll end when it ends."
