Pilgram Sets New Record with Home Run Sunday, October 18th , 1903 What a season to remember! Today Caleb Pilgram established a new league mark for home runs in a season with 36. Talking to reporters after the record-breaking game at Estadio de los Vejigantes, Pilgram commented, "Wow! 36! That's a lot of homers! 36 homers in a season! I have just beaten the season record of Stewart Haley. Can you believe it? Now that was great ballplayer. I'm not as good as he was. He was one of the all-time greats. I don't put myself in his class, but it will be nice to have my name in the record book." Caleb Pilgram flied out in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd and homered off Dámaso Cárdenas in the 5th. So far this season, Pilgram has recorded a .248 batting average with 150 hits, 36 home runs, 104 RBIs, 86 runs scored and a .296 OBP. |
