Sandoval, on Top of His Game, Beats Mayaguez, 1-0

Fernando Sandoval was in a zone of his own most of the day, shutting out the Mayaguez Capitanes on 2 hits.
"He was too darn good for us today," grumbled Mayaguez manager Samuel Castillo after the 1-0 loss to the Cayey Cornupetas.
Sandoval finished with 2 strikeouts and 2 walks in a strong outing.
In the postgame press conference, Cayey manager Getulio Palomares said Sandoval "had good velocity, good movement and had those guys off balance. He just pitched his butt off."
On his stats sheet this season, Sandoval shows a 14-23 record, 39 starts, 349 innings, 137 strikeouts and a 2.71 ERA.
