Even as a kid, Cedro Martín said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At Estadio de Jayuya, Martín showed how well he learned that lesson.

The 30-year-old third baseman had 5 hits in 5 at-bats for the Vieques Esqueletos, helping his team knock off the Jayuya Cerros by a score of 7-3.

"They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did."

Cedro Martín singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, tripled in the 9th and hit an RBI triple in the 10th.

This season, Martín is batting .276 with 156 hits, 2 home runs, 66 RBIs, 37 walks, .322 OBP and has scored 77 runs. He has played in 150 games.
