Rumors Confirmed, Rodríguez Retires Saturday, October 3rd , 1903 Gervasio Rodríguez is stepping away from the game of baseball at the end of the season. The Las Marias Citricos player gave a brief explanation to reporters this afternoon. "It's time to step away from the game and work on phase two of my life - world domination," the 40-year-old joked. Rodríguez wisecracked for several minutes while reminiscing about high and low points of his career. At the end of the session, Rodríguez sent a personal message. "I truly thank all you fans." Looking at his all-time stats, Rodríguez has a lifetime .267 average with 476 hits, 56 doubles, 27 triples, 22 home runs and 239 RBIs. To date he has scored 234 runs, walked 172 times and stolen 49 bases. |
