Bernal, Cotorras Shut Out Marcianos, 1-0 Wednesday, September 30th , 1903 In a remarkable performance, Rio Grande Cotorras starter Calixto Bernal beat the Lajas Marcianos, 1-0, in an impressive 5-hit shutout. "My arm felt good, mechanics were good and my stuff was working," he said later. "It doesn't get any better than this." The Cotorras hurler finished with 2 strikeouts and 1 walk. He showed pinpoint control and a sharp fastball. "It was a rough one for my guys," Lajas manager Meliteo Anguino said, following the game. "We weren't at our best and their guy was."
