González Blanks Marineros, 3-0 Thursday, September 17th , 1903 The Las Piedras Menestrales did little to support starter Simeón González against the Barceloneta Marineros, but it turned out he didn't need the help. The right-hander spun a complete game shutout against the Marineros, striking out 1 and surrendering 5 hits. The performance from González allowed Las Piedras to escape with the 3-0 win, despite an anemic offense. "Nobody came to me and said, 'Simeón, we're gonna need you to win this one for us today,' but I could feel it," González told BNN reporters following the win. "I'm the guy that will step up for you when you need it." Looking at his season stats, González has won 14 and lost 19, collecting 104 strikeouts and 59 walks in 283.1 innings with a 2.83 ERA.
