Chávez Shackles Santa Isabel Wednesday, September 16th , 1903 The Luquillo Soles shut out the Santa Isabel Corceles, 1-0, behind the strong pitching of Ramón Chávez. Chávez surrendered only 7 hits in recording the complete-game victory, and struck out 5. Following the last out, Chávez appeared to celebrate a little too boisterously for Santa Isabel manager Sócrates Galvis, who could be seen scolding the famously outspoken right-hander as the clubs left the field. Chávez's own manager then intervened with some words for his counterpart. The Corceles skipper would not comment on the exchange but, at the Soles press conference, Chávez confirmed that it was regarding the celebration. "He basically told me I was being a lousy winner," Chávez said. "And I told him he was being a lousy loser," Luquillo manager Norberto Jiménez added.
