Yabucoa Bats Silenced by Piedra Sunday, September 6th , 1903 Álvaro Piedra was throwing strikes early and getting ahead in the count, his manager said after the Corozal Mofongueros hurler tossed a 4-hit, complete game shutout against the Yabucoa Dulceros. "I went right after each hitter, trying to get ahead in the count," said Piedra. "I wanted them to swing the bats and keep my pitch count down. It worked. I felt strong the whole game, even in the last two innings." Piedra walked 0 and struck out 1 in the 1-0 victory.
