Ricardo López Plans to Retire Friday, August 14th , 1903 Maricao Cafeteros officials flanked Ricardo López as he announced his retirement from pro baseball today. Rumors have had him on the verge of retirement since late last week but were not confirmed until today. "I want to leave the game the way I came into it," said López. "I don't want to become an embarrassment to myself and the team." Looking at his all-time stats, López has a lifetime .248 average with 229 hits, 33 doubles, 23 triples, 3 home runs and 70 RBIs. To date he has scored 119 runs, walked 77 times and stolen 32 bases. |
