The rain came, as predicted, but the Sheffield Talons and Coventry Motors were able to complete their ballgame.
The Sheffield Talons picked up a win at Talons Grounds, taking down the Coventry Motors, 6-3. Starting pitcher Álvaro López was a big reason why. López got the win, improving to 9-7. He gave up 5 hits and walked 1 over 7 innings. He allowed 3 runs. Darío Gil was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 2 of 3 save opportunities.
Luke Devon had a big run-scoring triple for the Talons in the bottom of the second inning. With Sheffield leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a curveball from Martín León, who is tied for 3rd in the BFE&W in saves with 4, and swatted a triple to right. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Talons ahead, 2-0.
"Winning never gets dull," said Devon.
At 30-35, the Talons are currently 4th in the Baseball Federation of England & Wales English Baseball Championship.
