In a low-scoring tilt between the Carolina Tumbabrazos and the Sabana Grande Tejedores, 30-year old right-handed pitcher Gerardo Tinajero was the difference-maker. The Carolina right-hander spearheaded the 3-2 win. Tinajero yielded 2 runs over 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 1, and struck out 1. His record improves to 10-6. Javier Rodríguez earned the save for Carolina, his 6th of the year.
Carolina used a well-timed hit by Ernie Pope to capture the win. The catcher socked a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the Tumbabrazos ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
"Gerardo is tough when he's hitting his spots," said Carolina manager Leo Reyes.
