Stevedores Double Up Arcadians, 4-2

The Newport Stevedores picked up a win at Ballpark of Cardiff, knocking off the Cardiff Arcadians, 4-2. Starting pitcher Dermott Skeffington was a big reason why. Skeffington, now 5-8, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 4, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. The 5th-place Stevedores improved to 24-32.
Simon Harris had a clutch at-bat with one out in the top of the sixth for the Stevedores. Coming up with the bases loaded and Newport trailing 1-0, he hit a 2-run single.
Harris said, "Whether you hit the ball hard, you walk, you have a long at-bat, 10 or 12 pitches, or you hit a homer, you're just trying to do anything you can do to help the team win."
