Inverness Thistles starter Ignacio Vélez pitched a strong game against the Aberdeen Granite at Inverness Fields, leading the Thistles to victory, 6-4. Vélez got the win, improving to 4-4. He gave up 7 hits and walked 3 over 9 innings. He allowed 4 runs. The second-place Thistles now have a record of 19-13.

Sotero Vega had a big 3-run home run for the Thistles in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Inverness leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a fastball from 33-year old right-handed pitcher Shaun Montgomery and punished it. The result was his 2nd home run of the season, which put the Thistles on top, 5-0.

"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Vélez told the Inverness Bulletin.
