Motors Earn 3-1 Home Win
|
The rain could not dampen the enthusiasm of Coventry fans at Motors Grounds.
The Coventry Motors got a magnificent performance from pitcher Trevor Wright, who muffled the Birmingham offense en route to a tight, 3-1 Motors win at Motors Grounds. Wright, the winner, moves to 4-2. He threw 7.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 1 and giving up 3 walks.
Had Ryan Rae not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Rae hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Motors.
Coventry manager José Henríquez commended his team for exhibiting "no shortage of effort."
The win puts Coventry at 16-8.
