The Sheffield Talons snuck past the Derby Rams, 3-2, in 10 innings. Sheffield pitcher Jim Normand, in particular, had a standout performance. Normand, now 4-1, was the winner. In 10 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 5, walking 3, and allowing 2 runs. The loss drops the Rams to 4-15.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when Sheffield pinch hitter Damien Petty, facing Max Drummond, had a run-scoring ground out. It gave the Talons the 3-2 win.

"This wasn't a good win," said Petty. "It was a great win."
