Enrique Cantú pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Birmingham Tradesmen, despite Cantú's fine outing, dropped a 3-2 decision to the Sheffield Talons at Tradesmen Grounds. Sheffield, with the win, is 2-1.

Sheffield used the clutch hitting of Getulio Mejía to capture the win. The left fielder drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to give the Talons the lead, 1-0. For the game, Mejía had 1 single and 1 double in 4 at-bats.

Mejía told a Sheffield Today reporter he was "pleased as punch" with the win.
