Mercaderes Suffer 6-2 Home Defeat
|
The Barranquitas Ilustres earned a win at Estadio de Villalba, stopping the Villalba Mercaderes, 6-2. Starting pitcher Luis Arrieta played a big role in his team's success. Arrieta, who finished 2nd in the LB in saves with 4 in 1901, went the distance for Barranquitas. He gave up 2 runs on 7 hits. At 15-5, the 1905 Ilustres have been excellent so far.
Rafael Beltrán was 1-3 for Barranquitas. The 27-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the third. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Roberto León. It was his 8th RBI of the season.
"We're playing like we're capable of," said Barranquitas manager Belisario Mesa.
