Puebla Makes It 7 Straight with 4-2 Win
|
Puebla Mosqueteros starter Juan Velarde pitched a strong game against the Oaxaca Zapotecos at Campo de Oaxaca, leading the Mosqueteros to victory, 4-2. Velarde got the win, improving to 2-4. He gave up 9 hits and walked 3 over 9 innings. He allowed 2 runs. The Mosqueteros now have a record of 46-36.
The game was all tied up in the top of the eighth, until Velarde delivered big-time for Puebla, stroking a dramatic 2-run single off Tomás López. The game-changing hit put the Mosqueteros on top, 4-2.
"Main thing is I want the team to win," Velarde told a reporter after the game. "Just have to go out there, take care of my job, and give my team a chance to win."
