Behind an impressive start by Germán Bencosme, Naranjito beat Anasco, 6-2. Bencosme, now 2-1, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 1, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. The loss drops the Anasco record to a disappointing 8-11.
The Matadioses had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Brillantes going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 20-year old right fielder Goliat Vázquez came to the plate. Vázquez hit a run-scoring triple on a 2-0 sinker from Anasco hurler Quilvio Argueta. It was Vázquez's 1st triple of the year.
"It was a solid team effort," said Bencosme after the game.
