Guiristas Roll to 9-1 Win Over Corsos
|
The Penuelas Guiristas launched their 1905 campaign with a victory over the Yauco Corsos at Estadio de Peñuelas. Penuelas shortstop Francisco Mejía was instrumental in the 9-1 win. He went 3 for 3 with 3 singles and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times. The winning pitcher was Gustavo Dávalos. He tossed 110 pitches over 6.2 innings, allowing 1 run on 4 hits.
Penuelas took control in the bottom of the sixth. With two out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Tito Benavides hit a run-scoring single to make it 2-1, Guiristas.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Benavides.
