The Rio Grande Cotorras withstood a good performance by Penuelas center fielder Fidel Aguilar to knock off Penuelas, 7-6, in 11 innings. Aguilar went 4 for 4 with 4 singles and a walk. Picking up his 2nd save was 18-year old left-handed pitcher Francisco González. Rio Grande bumps their record to 74-44 with the win.

The Cotorras beat the Guiristas in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Jesús Torres produced in the top of the 11th. Batting against Guadalupe Castañeda, Torres gave his team the lead, 7-6, when he hit a run-scoring single.

In postgame remarks, Torres said: "I'm proud of our guys, of their fight."
