The Camuy Murcielagos picked up a win at Estadio Víctor Nieves, downing the Ceiba Picudos, 7-3. On the mound for Camuy was left-hander Carlos Díaz, who played a pivotal role in the win. Díaz yielded 3 runs over 9 innings to notch the win. He scattered 11 hits, walked 1, and struck out 4. His record improves to 2-1. To call the performance of the 1906 Picudos subpar is an understatement.
The Murcielagos took the lead, 5-2, in the bottom of the fourth inning. Facing Ceiba hurler Vicente Rivera with one out, Cipriano Montiel hit a 2-run single.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Díaz told a Camuy Today reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
