Pescadores Get Hard-Earned Win
|
The Salinas Pescadores beat the Las Marias Citricos, 5-4. Salinas pitcher and Florida, Puerto Rico, native Carlos Horcasitas led the way. In 9 innings, Horcasitas surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 5. He allowed 4 runs. The first-place Pescadores hiked their record to 69-47.
The result might have been different, had it not been for 35-year old left fielder Jon Pierce. Pierce had a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Pescadores ahead, 5-4. For the game, Pierce had 1 double and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"We'll take some time to unwind," said Horcasitas, "and then get after it again."
