The rain came, as predicted, but the Jayuya Cerros and San Lorenzo Leyendas were able to complete their ballgame.
Jayuya Cerros starter Ashley Watts turned in a top-notch performance against the San Lorenzo Leyendas at Estadio de San Lorenzo. The result was a win for the Cerros, 7-2. Jayuya is third in the Liga Hostos Cordillera Oeste with a record of 46-72.
The Cerros got a clutch hit from Julio Vega with one out in the top of the eighth inning. Vega jumped on a 2-1 fastball from Adolfo García and hit a 2-run single, staking his club to a 5-2 lead.
"Ashley's not intimidated by who's stepping into the batter's box," said Jayuya manager Mateo Tirado.
