The Yabucoa Dulceros and Jayuya Cerros played an entertaining game for Estadio de Jayuya patrons.
The Yabucoa Dulceros topped the Jayuya Cerros, 4-3, in Liga Hostos action at Estadio de Jayuya. The standout performance belonged to Yabucoa pitcher and San Juan, Puerto Rico, native Ramón Montoya. Montoya, the winner, moves to 7-5. He threw 9 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 2 and giving up 4 walks.
The most important at-bat for Yabucoa came in the top of the ninth inning, when shortstop Pablo Ruiz stroked a 2-0 fastball to right for a run-scoring single, putting Yabucoa up, 4-3.
"Very pleased with the effort on our side," said Montoya.
The Dulceros move to 56-53 with the win, while the Cerros drop to 44-65.
