Brillantes Earn 9-4 Win Versus Barranquitas
|
The Naranjito Brillantes knocked off the Barranquitas Ilustres, 9-4, in Liga Hostos action at Estadio de los Ilustres. Naranjito pitcher and San Juan, Puerto Rico, native Bolívar Gallegos had an outstanding performance. In 9 innings, Gallegos surrendered 10 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 0. He allowed 4 runs. The Brillantes raised their record to 45-62.
Juan Muñoz had a big 2-run double for the Brillantes in the top of the second inning. With Naranjito leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from 25-year old right-handed pitcher Jesús Monge and swatted a double to left. It was his 8th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Brillantes ahead, 3-0.
Muñoz said, "Whether you hit the ball hard, you walk, you have a long at-bat, 10 or 12 pitches, or you hit a homer, you're just trying to do anything you can do to help the team win."
