Estadio de los Martilleros was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Cabo Rojo Combatientes and Vega Alta Martilleros.

Behind the hitting of Mercuriano Vilchez, the Cabo Rojo Combatientes clipped the Vega Alta Martilleros, 5-4. Vilchez was 4 for 4 with a double and 3 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Combatientes. Marco Flores, who is tied for 7th in the LB in complete games with 26, was the winner. He's now 19-8. The loser was Ramón Cernadas.

Cabo Rojo relied on the hitting of Elián Estrada to pick up the win. The second baseman ripped a run-scoring triple in the top of the ninth inning to put the Combatientes on top, 5-4. For the game, Estrada had 1 triple and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said Vega Alta manager Jeremías Rodríguez. "But we decided not to take it."

The Combatientes move to 58-49 with the win, while the Martilleros drop to 53-51.
